GREY MOTH

A SMALL GREY MOTH CAME TO LIGHT AND WAS CAUGHT IN SPIDERS WEB.IT WAS ABOUT 15MM LONG

Confidence: It might be this.
Notes: Rather hard to be sure from this picture. Clearly one of the carpets (Larentiinae) and I think either this of a very faded Red-Green Carpet (Chloroclysta siterata), but siterata should be pretty fresh at this time of year so I've gone for T. britannica.

Confidence: It's likely to be this, but I can't be certain.
Notes: I think David's alternative suggestion is more likely - the black bar at the middle of the trailing edge is too long for Spruce Carpet, but just right for Red-green, and presumably the lack of scales on the wing could be explained by the encounter with the spider's web?
