Candelabra trees (same genus as our little spurges) sticking out above the lower scrub and grassland on a rocky hillside near the Hell's Gate National Park.

Looks rather like this species but I can't be sure.

Incidentally, how did you get the location for your older/overseas images. I have tended not to put on observations where I'm not sure of the exact location, at least not for the moment.

Hi Mike,

Re the overseas images, though some are older I spent quite a lot of time in Kenya, especially round Naivasha (PhD fieldwork) and know some bits of it very well, including from aerial photos and satellite images. I've got photos from all over the region of various species but have kept to those I remember (or labelled) clearly. I could still take you to the spot where I took the Euphorbia photo as it was a short-ish hike into the hills from where I was staying and just off from a short-cut to other places I visited regularly. Others, such as Mt.Solitary (the currawong) are just easy-to-find locations.
