Nomenclature query

At the Asa Wright Centre, Trinidad, I had pointed out to me a retile called Tiger Lizard Tupinambis negropunctatus.
I can find nothing on Google or Wikipedia, and am wondering whether:

1. Tiger Lizard is a local name

2. I misheard the scientific name

Any thoughts please?

It might be the common tegu Tupinambis teguixin, which used to be know as T. nigropunctatua
