Cossus maybe?

Apologies for the lighting - I placed it badly. ;-)
We THINK this character emerged from its pupa out of the ground in France in late May. It's large, ~3cms long.
It looks quite similar, but not identical, to the Goat Moth (Cossus cossus) in Townsend/Lewington to me, so I'm guessing it's a Cossus since there seem to be many.
