Query

I am not sure whether I am right or Mark is! John Poland splits them by Empetrum having leaves pseudowhorled and the Erica in whorls of 3(4) which I am having difficulty with. (ignore the Calluna comment.)

I often see this plant

I often see this plant growing with Bilberry and both can have small dark berries at this time of year, I think Crowberry could be it.

Cathal.

Thanks Graeme it was bugging

Thanks Graeme it was bugging me. It did not look quite right for an Erica but I couldn't put me finger on it. Your ID makes perfect sense.
