I think you are right, I had one the other week it took a while to identify but once you have it seems obvious. The wings are held very flat and the pale outside edge is distinctive.

I have been pondering this one for weeks, not able to convince myself.
I could not find a moth image with the same colouring, but looking at shape and patterns this was the best match. Then reading that it is a variable moth it seemed obvious to me at least!.

I agree with Gary - you are spot on with your id. There are some useful websites around with a variety of moths for some species such as Norfolk Moths, Suffolk Moths and Hants Moths along with UKMoths that can be helpful when considering your id.
On this species the wings are not always held flat - the usual resting position is with them tented in an inverted V but they are much easier to photograpg with the wings flat!
