Still trying with Cranefly, has this photograph enough detail for insect experts to get passed saying only that it is a Cranefly (Tipulidae)

No doubt whatsoever that this is a cranefly! I love the way you can see the balance organs (halteres) in crane flies. All diptera have them, but crane flies are so big you can actually see them clearly. Its what evolution did with the 2nd pair of wings, I guess.

Yes, agree with ID

Looks like a female cranefly. The female has the pointed ovipositor.
