Description: At very first glance I thought this was a copper beech though quickly realised it isn't. Then I thought it was a sycamore with the leaves "gone wrong", and the bark is grey and smooth - more like a Maple.
It is on a golf course so it may be a cultivated tree. If it is a sycamore what has happened to the leaves?

Description: This is a picture to show the early onset of autumnal leaf drop in a Sycamore tree. The leaves have lost their chlorophyll in preparation for dropping off. This is very early in the year. Is it due to the poor summer weather?
