Description: Found these footprints during a Water Vole survey. There were numerous rat signs all along this stretch of the River Severn (footprints, burrows and droppings), but there is a recent sighting of Water Vole from this area and one lot of feeding remains were discovered during the survey. Would welcome others thoughts.

Description: Baby vole, eyes not yet open. I think it's a bank vole or a water vole, but am not sure of relative sizes of young at that age. Tail seems too fat for a bank vole.

Description: The Nottingham Canal is not in water along much of its length between Langley Mill and Bramcote, and certainly isn't navigable. I was cycling along the canal towpath back in April 2008 when I saw two rodents frolicking together in the water on my side of the canal. I tried to be discreet but they both took off while I was getting my camera out from my saddle bag. I'm sure everyone can relate to the further delay caused by the digital camera not wanting to immediately take the picture.
