Description: We found the feather on a recently in the Staffordshire Moorlands. There is a canal in the area we walked and lots of open countryside and woodland. I really can't think what bird it would be from as it's large and I don't think it would be from an owl or buzzard or other raptor. I have wondered if it could be from a peacock?
It's 40cm / 15.5 inches long and I suspect it's a wing feather by the shape but I'm not sure.
Does anyone know which bird it fell from?

Description: This flight feather measures 42 cm unstraightened. The emargination measures 22cm. The feather shows significant wear towards the tip. The shaft is a dark brown/black from the emargination to the tip whilst becoming white at the substantial base. It has quite a curve on it which makes it look more pointed in the photographs than it actually is.

Description: My excuse is that I didn't go to Kew expecting to see peafowl! I spotted the male under a tree, then later stalking and displaying to the female. Watching the shimmering eye feathers (photo 4 - OK I know its a still but they were shaking) dazzled me but did not seem to impress her.
